Miyazawa Yukino has always been a show-off. She's always wanted to be Number One, to be the very best in everything, to be adored by all others. Then one day, she meets her match: Arima Soujiro, who seems about as perfect as she strives to be. But no one is quite what they seem ... for whenever Yukino goes home, off comes the "ojousama" facade - and on go the headbands, reading glasses, and sweats. Miss Congeniality is in fact a conniving, petty con-artist with a streak of absolute nerdy bliss. Of course, Yukino isn't the *only* one hiding a secret, since Arima himself isn't quite what he seems either.

It`s common practice to make manga adaptations of many popular anime, there`s a manga based on Evangelion, and two (one shounen and one shoujo) based on each of Escaflowne and Mahou Tsukai Tai. Also it`s quite common to release manga and anime versions of a story in parallel, for instance Nadesico and Shoujo Kakumei Utena. Plot Continuity Consistency of the characteristics of persons, plot, objects, places and events seen by the viewer.
A single linear focused plot is highly continuous.
A truly random plot is highly discontinuous. Romance Romance describes a story that deals with love between two or more characters typically also having an optimistic ending. School Life Since a large part of the anime audience still takes part in school life or is visiting college, it is only natural to choose a setting the audience can identify with, be it elementary, middle, or high school. For the older viewers a college setting with more mature real-life problems is appropriate. And since clubs take up so much time in the lives of students, these are obviously also important. Shoujo A style of anime and manga intended for girls which may have some crossover appeal to boys as well. Slapstick Slapstick humour is generally recognized by lots of physical abuse, horseplay and practical jokes. Also often seen are impossible situations, using sounds to illustrate impossible stunts that aren`t shown on-screen and to create tension for audience anticipation. A REALLY good Shojo about a relationship between a girl and a boy and how it evolves and develops through time. A bit angsty, a bit sweet, a bit funny and a bit serious. Must see.

Simple but with various styles, creative and unpredictable presenting make this anime interesting.

Hum.... read the manga!
Well, this anime had it all to be a successful shoujo and it had a trump: a sensitive director capable of portraying depression and obsession in a very unique way.
Unfortunately, for reasons I'm not that sure, the director left his position in the middle of the show, leaving it to meet a terrible end.
A certain "I DON'T KNOW WHO"... someone very unrespectful and very discourteous >< insulted the author by presenting this shitty version that was aired.
Shame on the TV Team!

One of the best love stories I've ever watched. The down side is that Gainax went bankrupt in midstride and didn't finish it, so the last third is horrible quality and almost half the story one has to read on the manga
